This wedding could not have been any prettier! The Black Barn is a gorgeous farm venue located 45 minutes from downtown Edmonton, it’s a pretty little rural Alberta oasis surrounded by wheat and sunflower fields, great for photo ops!
Caleb and Nicole planned a first look, and took some photos together before their tea ceremony, a Chinese wedding tradition in which the couple honours family members by serving them tea. The couple receives gifts in the form of gold jewelry and lucky red envelopes. Nicole wore a beautiful red traditional Chinese wedding dress. I love taking lots of candids and details at cultural ceremonies like this one, they’re such a good time for the couple to chat with and give big hugs to all of those special folks who have been there for you. Carving out that special time on your wedding schedule can be tough, but ceremonies like this not only honor traditions, but also give families the props they so deserve.
Nicole and Caleb’s outdoor marriage ceremony was breezy and beautiful. The skies went from cloudy to sunny right as guests began to arrive at the venue, which was such fitting and lovely metaphor. Nicole and Caleb also did their first dance outside. I love venues that have both indoor and outdoor spaces (and guests love it too, especially getting to be outside on a warm summer night.) I’m so thrilled I got to photograph this beautiful day, and meet these two amazing people.
