Queer Calgary Wedding Photography
I met these gorgeous lovebirds at Chase’s brother’s wedding, just a few months before their big day. I sat at their table, we became pals almost instantly, and I was EEEK-level excited when they booked me for their cute little Calgary wedding at the gorgeous Gerry Shaw Garden in JH Woods Park.
Even though their big day was only a few months away, Chase and Elan hadn’t yet booked a photographer. As a trans man, Chase wanted to ensure he felt comfortable with the person who’d be photographing him during his transition.
It’s scary out there for trans folx in Alberta. Ensuring you’re hiring queer and trans friendly vendors, even if you’re a cis couple. Ask your wedding vendors questions to find out if they’re TERFs - seriously! We really need to stop giving our money to businesses who don’t affirm queer and trans folx identities with love and acceptance.
Elan and Chase’s wedding day dawned sunny and perfect in Calgary, and these two cuties were so excited to see each other for their first look. Their family-only ceremony was followed by more wedding photos near Bragg Creek Provincial Park, a very memorable Cardi B car karaoke singalong, and a tented backyard reception.
Drag was a formative part of Chase’s gender acceptance journey, so their reception included an amazing and fabulous drag show. The vibe was so rad - many of their friends/guests attended in drag. (More drag queens at weddings please!!!) The sparkler exit was also incredible, and the perfect end to such an awesome and memorable wedding day!
