Tofino/Vancouver Island Destination wedding photography
“Cold hands, warm hearts” was the unwritten theme for Nikki and Scott’s gorgeousAF destination wedding on North Chesterman Beach in Tofino, BC.
Rain is just part of the deal in December on Vancouver Island. If you’ve been lucky enough to explore Pacific Rim National Park during the winter season, you'll understand what I mean. Humid, cool nights paint a thin layer of ice over absolutely everything, then the sun shows its shy face, and thaws it in minutes. Winter squalls can blow in off the ocean with a moment’s notice, and the rain and snow stops again just as quickly. And it’s all so beautiful, and quiet in Pacific Rim National Park, unlike the busy high season.
A squall blew in right as the guests arrived, but it cleared and the sun peered out right as Nikki walked onto the beach on her dad’s arm - it was BEEEAUTIFUL! After the ceremony, we skipped through the raindrops enjoying the rest of the day, and got some cute photos with loved ones, before heading to their wedding reception at the Shore Pier in Tofino, BC - an incredible venue with a great patio.
This day, despite the weather, was gorgeous and moody - I’d even say the rain made things prettier - a bit more muddy and shivery, sure, but we have the photos to prove how much fun everyone had celebrating Nikki and Scott!
Congrats to these cuties! If you’re having a winter wedding in Tofino, bring your raincoat (and hire me as your favorite “doesn’t balk at rain” destination wedding photographer) I love winter weddings!
